We are requesting course fee increase for this course to incorporate several new online learning opportunities for our clinical year students. The Covid-19 epidemic resulted in part of clinical practicum courses to go to a virtual platform with online patient simulation cases. Two programs were used during this time -Aquifer ( and iHuman ( Over the past year, we have found elements of both programs have greatly augmented and leveled the exposure of patient scenarios that students experience during their clinical year. A decision to incorporate both of these programs to enhance the didactic component of the clinical year was made by our faculty. These programs will also be used to prepare for the national boards that students must pass at the end of the program. The fees for these two programs and well as ROSH review, which was incorporated last year and has been of great use to the students, will be spread over the 8 courses students take during their clinical year (PAS 8000, 8010, 8020, 8030, 8040, 8050, 8060, 8070). Many students were paying individually for these courses and all three online programs will be provided at the group discount provided to the University. The ARC-PA (our accrediting body) is emphasizing the use of several assessment tools, both internally and externally vetted, to determine the depth and breadth of our PA students. Access to this online learning environment will provide another avenue for our students.
In addition, our program uses EXXAT as an education management system and there has been a slight increase in cost resulting the change from $32 to $35 dollars per student in each course described below. The cost of this program is a yearly fee for each student and a portion of this fee has been allocated to the pertinent didactic courses in Year I (PAS 7040, 7050 and PAS 7060) and Year II (PAS 8000, 8010, 8020). Finally, our clinical rotation sites are requesting students provide their own PPE due to Covid-19 and this fee is being incorporated into the course fee structure. Other fees described have not changed.
