The College of Nursing would like to add a course material fees for seven nursing courses (3010, 3015, 3020, 4010, 4020, 4050 4060). We currently use a specialty testing, case study, self-evaluation and assessment question product called HESI®. The HESI® online product is designed to measure students’ abilities to apply concepts related to specific clinical nursing content areas, while ensuring students are prepared to confidently pass the NCLEX-RN. Over the last several years, the product has become essential to all our undergraduate nursing students. The cost per student for use over their nursing career is $686. There are additional school fees but the base fee per student is reported here. Each new cohort of students has access to the product throughout their program. Since many health systems partners have reduced the faculty: student ratio from 1:8 to 1:6 (1:4 at some institutions). The HESI product provides up to date cases to supplement the clinical learning. To help defray the cost of the product and to avoid charging the full fee to undergraduate students in a single course, we would like to spread the cost over the seven (of eight) courses in which the product is used. We did not add the cost to the NUR 2050 course as we have already added a course fee for their simulation lab expenses.
