Expenditures for 2018 (W, SS and F) $52,754.17. See attached spreadsheet for detailed breakdown of costs.
Microbiology is a high-enrollment undergraduate course with a laboratory. It is required for preprofessional programs and Biological Sciences majors. Twice weekly laboratory sessions train students in microbiological methods, including sterile technique, the culture and analysis of microbial strains and cell transformation. Students are also trained in basic molecular methods such as extraction, analysis and manipulation of DNA. In recent years the course material fee has not kept pace with the cost of the reagents necessary to support this course. This is reflected in the attached spread sheet itemizing the costs of running BIO 2200 laboratories in 2018.
