We will be purchasing i-clicker technology for all students during the first clinical/laboratory course. The i-clickers will be used during the student's entire academic career in the College of nursing. Each clicker along with the associated web-based technology costs $25.00 per student for the device. We are only asking for the cost of the single device per each student.
The College of Nursing is seeking to enhance its "flipped classroom" techniques. Several faculty have utilized the outmoded clicker technology (which requires distribution before and after each class) in the past with some success. The newer technology allows students to make use of their smart phones or laptops or tablets to respond to the interactive questions utilized in the nursing lecture course. Since the web-based technologies stay with each student until graduation, the technologies can be used in multiple courses for one single cost to each student for three years (traditional) or 18 months (second degree).
Darin Ellis (ac7940) (Fri, 01 Feb 2019 16:04:10 GMT): Rollback: CMF proposal not approved. Required clickers should be noted on syllabus and in our HEOA reporting. Students can purchase clickers at the bookstore and re-use for other courses.
Ramona Benkert (ac3902) (Mon, 04 Feb 2019 18:20:36 GMT): Rollback: Hello First, we will include the statement in the syllabus once we have approval for the CMF. The "iclicker" technology is not the use of an actual device rather the students pay for a web based technology service and the access to the web based system is actually linked to their phone or computer. The technology will be used in NUR 2010 and all future courses. Since this is the first course in which it will be used, we attached the CMF to this course. Does that help explain?
