Educational Studies (B.S.Ed.)
The Educational Studies program is designed for current College of Education students in the Teacher Education Division’s teacher certification programs (not new students) interested in the study of education in its many forms - how students learn, how institutions teach, how social, and cultural factors shape learning, etc. - but who do not seek formal teacher licensure or certification from the state. This major provides a broad-based foundation in education. Graduates will be prepared for roles in educationally-related organizations, community settings, or continuing their studies in graduate school.
Admission Requirements:
- The student holds Junior-level or higher standing at Wayne State University in the College of Education and is a current student in one of the teacher certification programs in the Teacher Education Division.
- The student is in good academic standing, with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Successful completion of the pre-professional course sequence and successful completion of one semester of the professional sequence cohort program.
- Completion of an application form requesting a change to this new program.
A minimum of 120 credits are required for completion of this degree: satisfaction of the University General Education Program; All course work must be completed in accordance with the academic procedures of the College of Education and University governing undergraduate scholarship and degrees. All major, minor, and education courses must be completed with grades of ‘C-’ or better and an overall 2.0 grade point average to meet graduation requirements. Course changes may occur through periodic curriculum revision, and students are urged to consult assigned advisors prior to each registration period to ensure that all requirements are met.
